Connected Magazine

This 24 page magazine was designed for the Washington State University “Back to School” rush. Over 7,000 copies were distributed to incoming students to help with the process of getting their computers connected to the WSU network and well as provide information about the various products and services offered by Student Computing Services. For this project I acted as Editor and Lead Designer, as well as wrote all of the setup instructions and internal advertisements.

President Rawlins Tribute

This video was prepared for Washington State University President V. Lane Rawlins retirement party, sponsored by the WSU Foundation. After his seven years of groundbreaking service, the foundation wanted to honor him and in particular one of the programs where he made such a difference… The Cougar Marching Band. During his tenure, President Rawlins helped the band more than double in size and become one most successful programs in the northwest. The video was played in connection with several live elements including the official marching band announcer reading along and several band members playing the cougar fight song. In addition to the retirement party, President Rawlins and several top donors, fundraiser, and staff were presented with a keepsake version of the video with custom case, labels, and menus. Working with the foundation and staff from the communications department, I completed all technical aspects of this project, including, shooting the interviews, editing the video, preparing the DVD menus, and designing all packaging.

MacLife - InDesign Assignment

For this English 300 assignment, I created a cover and article design for a fictional magazine “MacLife”. These two pages utilized many functions of the application, including, gradients, vector art, high resolution photography, advanced text control and more.

Apotrope Brand Holy Water

Everything we buy is packaged. This packaging is not created by accident, but is the result of market research and social trends. This is of course not true across the board. As you look around you’ll notice there is a hierarchy to packaging, from the plain black & white with basic font of generic products to the bright colors and spectacular presentation of children’s toys. The different approaches to package design set standards that we can reflect upon while creating our own imagery. - Joe Stengel (DTC 332 Prof)

For this project I created: Apotrope Brand Holy Water from the original packaging of an Arrowhead bottle of water. This included modification of the logo, as well as all text and design elements.

Cable 8 General Meeting Flyer

This flyer set was created for the Fall 2006 Cable 8 Productions General Meeting. It utilized standardized brand photos to emphasize the tagline “Don’t Just Watch TV, Make it!” This campaign helped lead to the largest new student turnout in recent years.

SCS Alive! Lab Signs

This set of signs, posters, and desktop backgrounds was designed for the Student Computing Services labs during the Alive! 2006 & 2007 summer orientation program. These signs conform to the WSU Graphic Identity Program requiring certain fonts, colors, layout and imagery.

Cable 8 Tri-Fold Display & Recruitment Flyer

This tri fold display was designed for Cable 8 Productions. It is made of three 2×4 foot panels and a topper. It was originally produced in preparation for the WSU Seattle Week recruitment event and has been used at numerous other events over the past few years.

Also, attached is a recruitment flyer announcing the availability of applications for the Cable 8 Board of Directors.

Cougar Apple Crunch

This magazine advertisement was created for the fictional product Cougar Apple Crunch. It was originally designed as part of a Com 295 assignment and utilizes the required imagery, product branding and potential locations for purchase.
